Earth’s Terrestrial Biomes
Biome- a large group of ecosystems that share the same climate and have similar types of communities. All the biomes on Earth combine to form the biosphere.
Biomes are classified according to the characteristics of their plants and abiotic climate characteristics (temp, precipitation, etc)
These characteristics influence the type of animals that live in each biome.

There are nine terrestrial biomes:
Tundra
Boreal Forest/Coniferous Forest/Taiga
Temperate Forest/Deciduous Forest
Temperate Woodland and Shrubland/Chaparral
Temperate Grassland
Desert
Tropical Savanna
Tropical Seasonal Forest (Not always recognized as a biome)
Tropical Rainforest
There are two terrestrial regions that are not considered biomes:
Mountains
Polar Regions
