TRAVEL JOURNAL

Instead of a unit test, you will be creating a 30-point travel journal that incorporates your knowledge of longitude, latitude, time zones, and topography. Please read all directions carefully and check the rubric as you complete the travel journal.

Requirements:

  1. Journal should include your name, period, and be legible (3 points) 

  2. Journal Entry 1: Lists and describes your beginning location including:

    1. Local time if noon in Quakertown (1 point)

    2. Longitude and latitude (2 points)

    3. Topographic map of area including at least 2 labeled contour intervals (colored and detailed) (3 points)

    4. Written description of the landform (which should match your contour mapping) (3 points)

  3. Journal Entry 2: Same requirements as Journal Entry 1

  4. Journal Entry 3: Same requirements as Journal Entry 1

CREATING TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS

  • You will need to create a colored topographic map of each location in your travel journal


  • Contour Map Generator:  Create and draw with color a contour map of EACH of your 3 selected destinations.

    • Make the contour interval 50 meters for steep regions and 2 meters for flat regions.
