PRESSURE CENTERS | HIGHS | LOWS
QUICK, TO THE POINT, PRESSURE VIDEO
FOR YOUR NOTEBOOK:
Notes:
The atmosphere is pulled down by Earth's gravity.
The highest pressure of the entire atmosphere is at the bottom of this OCEAN OF AIR. (Near the surface)
Low pressure centers are areas where the Earth heats up, causing the air above it to heat up by CONDUCTION. The air CONVECTS upward and forms clouds/stormy weather.
High pressure centers are areas where cool or "more dense" air drops down from the sky, also due to CONVECTION. These areas usually have very clear skies.
Key Concepts:
High Pressure Air Masses always move toward Low Pressure Air Masses.
This is where WIND comes from.
Air Pressure depends on TEMPERATURE AND DENSITY.
