PA COMPETITION INSIGHT

The Governor’s of STEM Competition:

  • The Governor’s STEM Competition challenges student teams from across the state to research, design, and present a device or project that can make the quality of life better for Pennsylvanians by accomplishing a series of practical tasks that can fulfill real-world needs.

  • Teams are required to partner with a member of their local community or business to develop a solution to a real problem rooted in the community – this helps create an authentic experience for the students and provides opportunities for them to learn more about career pathways and employment opportunities based in STEM.

  • Each team is provided with a $600 stipend to build a prototype of their device or project.

  • Teams are up to five people (must be from the same school).

  • Dates are not posted yet

  • Rules may have changed since last year’s was virtual

Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science:

  • Competition is in May of each year

  • To compete in a PJAS Regional Competition, students conduct a scientific research project in 1 of the 12 Scientific Categories of Research identified by PJAS and then orally present that research to a team of judges at one of the Regional Competitions.

  • Must have an adult sponsor

  • Date and registration open Oct. 1st closes Dec. 24th
